World Song Contest

In 2010, the World Song Contest will give you the opportunity to live the FIFA World Cup in music. 32 songs will compete in a unique challenge in the online song contests. It is going to be the biggest WSC event, so don't miss it !
PRELIMINARY COMPETITION
About this competition
This competition is divided in two parts:
1. Preliminary competition
To reduce the field of participants to 32, qualifying rounds are held within five continental zones: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Africa: 26 countries divided into 6 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3. Winners of each group will go to The Cup.
America: 28 countries divided into 4 groups of 4 and 4 groups of 3. Winners of each group will go to The Cup.
Asia: 27 countries divided into 6 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3. Winners of each group will go to The Cup
Europe: 31 countries divided into 4 groups of 6 and 1 group of 7. Winners and Runner ups of each group will go to The Cup.
Oceania: 16 countries divided into 4 groups of 4. Winners of each group will go to The Cup.
Voting is open to everyone. Note that you can't vote for matches from the same group than your own song. In each match you just have to vote for your favorite song. At the end, the songs which has received the highest amount of votes will be the winner and will score 3 points, the other song won't score. In case we have a draw, each song will receive 1 point.
During this preliminary competition, you can also bet and try to guess the outcome of each match. If you want to bet, use the same form than the one you have to fill if you want to vote. The way you bet can be different than the way you vote.
2. Final tournament
32 songs qualify from the preliminary competition, and compete in a similar tournament than the final phase of the FIFA World Cup. The songs are divided into 8 groups of 4, and meet in 1 vs 1 matches, guaranteeing that every song will play at least three matches. The top two songs from each group advance to the second phase of the final: the knockout stage. The knockout stage is a single-elimination tournament in which songs play each other in one-off matches. It begins with the "round of 16", in which the winner of each group plays against the runner-up of another group. This is followed by the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the third-place match (contested by the losing semi-finalists), and the final.
