Moneda Dura

Cuban pop/rock band Moneda Dura was formed in the late '90s by singer/bassist Hugo Fernández and singer/guitarist Nassiry Lugo, both students at Havana's university. The two were later joined by percussionist Miguel Alejandro Atencio, guitarist Addiel Perera, and drummer Osmel Prado. The group then recorded their debut album, called Cuando Duerme la Habana, which featured the hit single "La Buena Onda." Playing a mixture of Afro-Cuban rhythms and rock, Moneda Dura returned in 2000 with Mucho Cuida'o, climbing charts in Cuba, Spain, and Mexico with "Lola." They released several other albums from 2002 to 2011, some being remastered in 2016 and 2017 while the album Nunca Me Fui was also released

independently by Nassiry Lugo. The band, now a project fully endorsed by Lugo as producer and songwriter, came back in 2021 with the song "Mi Última Canción."
